Covenant of Faith

Covenant of Faith

First Baptist Church trusts in the Holy Bible as the basis of doctrine and practice. We believe that the Bible is divine revelation and inspired Word of God. As a summary of principles of Christian conduct among the members it adopts the following covenant:

  • We believe in the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son–Jesus the Christ, and God the Holy Spirit. We acknowledge the existence and loving presence of God in our lives.
  • We affirm Jesus Christ as the Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, our Savior and at the center of what we think, feel, and do.
  • We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer at the moment of saving faith.
  • We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. His perfect sacrifice took away the penalty for our sins (death) and gives us the hope of eternal life.
  • We believe that this fellowship exists to show God’s love and concern for the world and to advance His kingdom by seeking the salvation of others.
  • We promise our support and love to each other in the fellowship as we grow in grace and knowledge of our Savior.
  • We further recognize the need and responsibility of all people to develop their own Christian faith.
  • We pledge to continue to grow in faith by taking part in Christian education, Bible study, prayer, meditation, worship, service in our community and world, and the joyful and sacrificial giving of our time, money, and other resources.
